Bayview Lodge
The BAY VIEW DEVELOPMENT consists of Bay View Lodge, a superior selfcatering lodge, and Bay View Estate, privately owned, face brick and thatch beach houses.
Both developments are located at Praia da Barra on the north-eastern tip of the beautiful Inhambane peninsula, with an estuary behind and a l-o-n-g sandy beach in front of the two developments. It is a place to leave your stress behind, explore the underwater wonderland on your doorstep and enjoy the night sky, far away from bright city lights.
We are approximately 485km north of Maputo, in Mozambique, and 25km from Inhambane town, in Inhambane Province. All roads leading to the lodge are tarred, except for the last 10km, which is a dirt road. It has been hard packed with coral sand, making it easy to reach us with a normal passenger vehicle without any difficulty. No 4x4 is needed, but is helpful if you want to explore a bit off the beaten track.
There are direct flights from Johannesburg to Inhambane return, operated by African Skies Aviation (contact us for more details) from Lanseria airport on Mondays and Fridays, or, 4 x flights per week with LAM, the official Mozambican airline. Return airport transfers to and from the lodge are provided at R100/person.
Holiday accommodation at Bay View Lodge is on a selfcatering basis, but there are several restaurants in the area for those who prefer not to cook for themselves. Our restaurant is presently under construction and a fully equipped scuba dive centre is 400m from the lodge. A conference centre is planned for the near future.

- Linen and bath towels are provided and laundered weekly

- Bedrooms are airconditioned and each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom
- All units are within 50m of the beach and most have at least a partial seaview
- Beach towels and baby cots are not provided
