Chongoene Beach Resort is situated 3 kilometers north of Xai-Xai Praia in Mozambique.
Situated on the beach the resort is operated by Coleen and Pieter George. Chongoene Holiday Resort is set on one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
This popular destination has the world in it's oyster. Not only does it have the cleanest sand along warm tropical waters and hot weather all year round, it also offers various outdoor and water activities.
The massive reef running parallel to the beach provides natural protection against the strong waves at high tide and forms several small pools at low tide. Snorkelling and diving are much enjoyed during low tide.
Deep-sea fishing is excellent at Xai Xai and shore fishing is good at certain times of the year, especially from May to July, which is Kingfish time. Fly-fishing can also be enjoyed from the reef that protrudes from the sea, giving the fisherman a great chance to fly-fish in deeper water.
The open, sun-drenched beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure, kite flying, snorkelling, swimming, diving, and relaxing. Affordable meals can be enjoyed at the Restaurant, which also has a TV with DSTV.
There are a number of fresh water lakes within 30 minutes drive where kayaking; paddle skiing and windsurfing can be enjoyed.
Wenela Tidal Pool, two kilometres South is a fascinating natural treasure having a natural tunnel and blow hole linking the pool to the sea.

The resort has one of the very few restaurants in the area that is run by Colleen. Seafood platters, catch of the day and prawns are always available and freshly cooked. Fresh fish is available from the local fishing charters for self cooking.

How to get to Chongoene Holiday Resort
From Maputo travel north on the EN1 for 224km until you reach the town of Xai Xai, then travel almost through the town until the BP garage on the left, 300m after the garage take a right turn to the Praia de Xai Xai (beach), travel for 10km until you reach a circle, keep left and follow the tar road to the beach front. At the beach front turn left into the dirt road and travel north along the sea shore (past the caravan park on your left hand side) on a sand road for 4km, you will see Chongoene Holiday Resort on your left.
