Cumbini Holiday Resort
We offer spacious and atmospheric self catering accommodation in a rustic, quiet and safe environment. Perfect if you want to relax and enjoy your holiday swimming, fishing, surfing or diving on one of the beautiful reefs along the coast of Mozambique.
Entertainment
Cumbini Resort, named after a local family named ‘Cumbi”, is only 6 years young and uniquely located amongst an array of more than 500 coconut palms. The resort is situated in a quiet part, north of the Guinjata bay area, with its own almost private beach without vehicles parked on it. A five minute beach walk away, brings you to a busy beach with some nice restaurants, bars, dive centres, dive shop and curio stalls, offering local arts and crafts for sale. Paddle ski’s and surf boards are available to rent at the dive shop.
Fishing & Diving holiday
Diving and fishing are of the most popular things to do in Guinjata bay. We can assist you with organising your diving or fishing trip, as we are working in close relationship with experienced local fishing and diving operators. It’s advised that reservations are made for these activities well in advance because of the popularity of these charters. Pleasure trips and whale watching safaris are also available
4X4 vehicles can comfortably reach our resort. Other vehicles with rear “diff-lock” configuration and well deflated tyres, can also reach us. Safe parking for smaller 2-wheel drive bakkies and passenger cars, are available within 1.5 kilometres from our resort. In these cases, we offer free assistance to our guests for the transportation of camping gear, luggage etc. to the resort.

SEAFRONT LUXURY VILLA
A beautiful brick built Villa for 8 persons, located on top of a dune with full sea view. The Villa has four bedrooms en suite and a fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining room with gas stove/oven, refrigerator and freezer. All bedrooms are seafront facing. The thatched roof and the local made wooden furniture give the Villa the real Mozambican touch. The veranda and wooden deck, probably the most used area of the house, gives you enough space to relax and enjoy the beautiful view on Guinjata bay.
The beach is only 200 meters from the villa at the foot of the dune.

CAMPING BARACCAS (LUXURY)
You can camp comfortably in our Baraccas enjoying the sea view. This is a spacious area, (7m x 12m), with its own shower and toilet inside. The Baracca has a small kitchen including a sink with hot and cold water, and working surface. There is also a storeroom and a power point. The Barracas are large enough to pitch two big dome tents inside on a sand floor, under the thatched roof and enough space outside for vehicles, caravans and more tents. Can accommodate up to ten people per unit.
The sea is close by, only 200m to the beach.

DIVING HOLIDAY IN GUINJATA BAY
Quinjata bay in the Inhambane Province offers several world class, largely protected and not overcrowded reefs for scuba diving. From beginner to advanced diver this region offers everybody a challenge. The water temperature is lovely from 29 degrees in the summer to 22 degrees in the winter and visibility can be up to 40 metres!
Whale sharks and Manta Rays
The local reefs are famous for its amazing sightings of Manta Rays and Whale Sharks but also offers e.g. Frogfish, Sea horses, Turtles, Dolphins, Humpback Whales, Eels, Rays, Barracuda, Kingfish, Paper fish.
Manta Reef a must dive
Only a twenty minutes boat trip will bring you to the Manta reef (max depth 30m)which has to be on your must dive list. A large slab of rock rising out of the sandy floor offering fantastic walls, caves and canyons. Close encounters with Manta rays, Whale sharks and Dolphins are practically guaranteed and make this a phenomenal dive site. Other local dive sites are: Paindane Express. (19-40m), Coral Gardens (12m), Green Tree (25-30m+).

To guarantee that you will have a great diving holiday in Guinjata bay we can assist you with booking your diving tours. Especially in high season it’s important to organise everything beforehand. There is limited space. We work together with several diving schools. Please let us know what your requirements are and we will organise it for you.
Schools
There is a variety of diving schools in the area that can assist the beginner who wants to learn or for the more advanced diver who wants to improve or refresh his/her diving skills.
SNORKELLING IN GUINJATA BAY
The reefs in this part of Mozambique, have some of the best snorkelling spots of Mozambique like the lighthouse reef and Paindane reef. Both offer pool- like conditions (1-5 meter) which makes them suitable for the whole family.
Organising your snorkkeling holiday
We work closely together with diving companies who can take you on a snorkelling trip. You can hire all snorkelling equipment there as well.
We can also organise trips by further out to swim with the amazing whale shark and dolphins. This is an experience you will never forget.
GAME FISHING IN GUINJATA BAY
The Guinjata area offers excellent game fishing like surf fishing, deep sea fishing, salt water fly fishing, drop shot or vertical jigging. You can bring your own boat or we can organise a fish charter for you.

- Take turn off to Inhambane
- Follow road for 27.5 km
- Take turn off at the signboards indicating to Guinjata bay and other resorts. (dirt road)
- Follow the dirt road for 16 km until you reach a junction (small shopping area). Keep left here and travel for a further 2 km (4x4 will be necessary) until you reach Cumbini on your left.
