Approximately 25km from Inhambane City and accessed by a sandy road Coconut Bay caters for every traveller and accommodation ranges from back-packing lodges, camping and self catering to luxury accommodation.

With many activities within close proximity to Coconut Bay it makes the perfect base point from which to explore the surrounding areas. This resort area offers many restaurants and bars and as is typical in Mozambique you will find the local fishermen selling their freshly caught fish, prawns and crayfish.

Mozambique has some of the best dive sites in the world and Coconut Bay will not disappoint. The Manta Reef is approximately 4km off shore from the Coconut Bay launch site and is one of the few manta ray cleaning stations world-wide! This rocky coral reef offers divers the opportunity for up close encounters with these magnificent creatures whose wingspan can reach some 7 metres across – it is teeming with reef fish, white and black tip reef sharks, kingfish, eels, barracuda, invertebrates, and of course various ray species.

Other activities include body surfing and swimming, snorkelling off the rocky reefs, sailing, wind surfing, deep sea fishing, shore fishing, dolphin and whale watching.

Mozambicans love clothes and if you have spare clothes (especially board shorts), then remember to take some with you to trade with!
