Yes, be sure to fill up with fuel if you are going to drive long distance. Remember Petrol is more expensive further North. Keep in mind that its best to pay for petrol in local currency (Meticais) as it is more expensive to pay for petrol in Rands or Dollars.

Do I need a 4x4 to get to Beira?
No, although some beaches may require a 4x4 like Savane Beach (approx 30km North of Beira)
Tyres should be deflated to -800 bar to be able to drive on the soft sand.

Can I hire a car or 4x4 in Beira?

Yes, Beira has a good infrastructure and there are supermarkets and other markets selling fresh produce.

Is Beira a Malaria area? Do I need to take Malaria Tablets?
Yes, Mozambique as a whole is a Malaria risk Area / Country. We recommend you take precautions and visit your nearest Doctor (you now need a prescription for Malaria Tablets) to prescribe you with whats recommended. Be prepared and take other Prophylactics like Insect Repellent sprays, Mosquito Coils, light long sleeve tops and bottoms to further prevent bites.
