Xai Xai: FAQ
= Very important advice / information
Is there a petrol station in Xai Xai?
Yes, you can fill up with Petrol or Diesel (be sure to fill up with fuel as soon as you get there as tank stocks often run out with the influx of tourists).
Keep in mind that its best to pay for petrol in local currency (Meticais) as it is more expensive to pay for petrol in Rands or Dollars. Petrol is more expensive the further north you travel!
Do I need a 4x4 to get to Xai Xai?
No, You can drive a normal Sedan Car to Xai Xai and Xai Xai Beach though some of the resorts and lodges require a 4x4 to reach their property, so there is safe parking close by the resorts and lodges where you can be picked up by the resort / lodge that you are staying at. Its best to check with the lodge you're staying at and enquire if their lodge requires a 4x4 or not.
We always recommend that you do take a 4x4, because you won't be limited to exploration and you will be able to get around much easier without the possibility of getting stuck.
Tyres should be deflated to -800 bar to be able to drive on the soft sand.

We advice you not to drive at night.
