8 & 10 Sleeper Units:
Accommodation in the larger units is offered in cool, stylish, tiled chalets with thatched roofs. These 8 and 10 sleeper spacious units are fully equipped for self-catering and comprise of 3 bedrooms (Main en-suite with twin beds, 2nd bedroom with twin beds, 3rd bedroom has 2 sets of bunks – 10 sleeper has twin beds & 1 set of bunks) Bedrooms 2 & 3 share a toilet & shower. Large open plan kitchen (with a pantry) /lounge/dining area. Situated approximately 500m on tall dunes, they offer grand views of both beach and bay from their individual patio and braai (barbeque) areas.

All the basic amenities are supplied including a gas stove, electric fridge, a chest freezer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, a kettle, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils and linen. All rooms are fitted with mosquito nets and fans.

Small safes are fitted in each cottage for storing valuables and the cottages are serviced once a day. A wash & dry laundry service is available at no extra charge.

4 & 6 Sleeper Units (no sea views):
The “Reed Cottage” which sleeps up to 06 guests if fully equipped for self-catering purposes & consists of 02 bedrooms (1 DOUBLE BED & 2 SETS OF BUNKS), shower & toilet, open plan kitchen, lounge & dining area. This unit is cool & airy in the hot summers. It also has its own braai area. Please note that this unit is not situated close to the main units & does not have sea views. The “Little Brick Cottage” is our latest addition to our accommodation selection.

This unit sleeps up to 4 guests in one bedroom with sturdy bunk beds equipped for adult use. It has one toilet & shower, open plan kitchen, a lounge area & dining area & a lovely braai area with under cover seating. All linen, utensils & appliances are provided, however, please bring your own towels.

Amenities are supplied including a gas stove, electric fridge, a chest freezer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, a kettle, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils and linen. All rooms are fitted with mosquito nets & fans. Please note that there are no safes fitted in the 04 & 06 sleeper units.

SUNSET LODGE
The 7 Sunset cottages are 500m up from the Barra beach, near the private swimming pool and The Thirsty Parrot. The setting is idyllic and each accommodation unit enjoys the most spectacular 360º view of the beach, salt water mangroves and the second largest coconut plantation in the world.

Whilst the cottages are self-catering, meals can be taken at The Thirsty Parrot, a popular social venue within Sunset Lodge famous for exotic cocktails and hearty meals.

THE THIRSTY PARROT
The Thirsty Parrot pool bar & restaurant serves exotic cocktails and hearty meals. It is not only favoured by guests of Sunset Lodge, it attracts holiday makers and residents from all of Ponta da Barra.

The Thirsty Parrot is the central meeting place. Here, memories are shared and made over magnificent sunsets and the near 360° majestic views of the peninsula - the warm Indian Ocean on one side and beautiful salt water mangrove swamps on the other.

Television and DSTV are provided for those sporting events and rare occasions when patrons are at a loss for conversation!

FRESH WATER POOL
The weather is always sunny and warm with hot summers and slightly cooler winters.
The private pool is refreshingly glorious and lures guests to enjoy an early morning dip, an evening cocktail, or a whole day relaxing in its unique surrounds.

SCUBA DIVING
Sunset Scuba offer PADI and NAUI instruction and conditions are perfect for both beginner and experienced divers. There are 15 reefs within easy reach of Sunset Lodge and some of the best scuba diving in the world is possible. Whale sharks, manta rays and dolphins are all common sights and the world famous Manta Reef is a must on any dive list.

SNORKELLING
Snorkel along the vibrant reefs and enjoy the intriguing marine life that Mozambique has to offer.

GAME FISHING
Tremendous game fish can be found in the area. Conditions are perfect for both skilled and less experienced fishermen. All deep sea tackle is provided.

OCEAN ADVENTURES
Trips to Pansy Island, pleasure cruises, deep-sea fishing, scuba and snorkelling can be booked through Sunset Scuba.

HORSE RIDING
Thunder along the beach or take it at a more leisurely pace. Either way, the experience is exhilarating.

DHOW TRIPS
Dhow rides are available to neighbouring towns or pleasure trips.

SURF FISHING
Surf fishing is always rewarding. Bring your own equipment and tackle.

ECO-ADVENTURE
Large natural salt water mangroves are situated within 100m of Sunset Lodge and flocks of pelican frequent the Barra Bay.

Directions

LOCATION - BARRA / INHAMBANE
Fly direct to the historical village of Inhambane or via Maputo from both O.R. Tambo and Lanseria Airports in Johannesburg. Flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Access by road is pleasant and scenic and the 485Km drive from Maputo to Inhambane takes about 6 hours. The roads are tarred and suitable for normal vehicles.
