Zavora Lodge provides more than just a holiday. The Ultimate Mozambique Diving Lodge.

Zavora Lodge is situated on one of the finest stretches of coastline in the Inhambane province. The lodge consists of a bar and restaurant, beachfront houses, bungalows and campsites. Some campsites are on the top of the dune and the bungalows and more campsites are situated behind the dune on well-grassed shady areas. The lodge is considered a very comfortable resort. The excellent fishing and unspoilt beauty of miles and miles of coastline and reefs is what makes Zavora Lodge a unique holiday destination.

Zavora Lodge in Inhambane is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mozambican coastline. The lodge is well known for its diving facilities and amazing African sunsets. This makes Zavora lodge on the of the preferred holiday destinations for South Africans and international visitors.

To get there one travels +/- 10km North of Inharrime on the ENI main road, turning right at the Zavora Lodge sign. After 17km along a reasonable dirt road one arrives at Zavora Lodge.

Zavora is recognized to be one of the best fishing and diving areas in Mozambique and is frequented by many avid fishermen and divers. Launching is done from the bay that is protected by a reef. This reef also creates a natural tidal pool that is excellent for snorkelling and swimming. The location of the bar, restaurant and deck offers a magnificent view of the Zavora reef and it's bay. Plenty of Humpback whales are sighted from the deck of the bar during June to November. Occasionally Eagle and Manta Rays burst from the surface in brief flights as well as the streamlined and graceful Sailfish. Dolphins are regularly seen feeding and playing in the bay. Away from the sea, quad bike excursions to the inland lakes are an experience not to be missed.

Dorado Dive Cottage

Dorado en-suit accommodation sea facing

Dorado is hotel-style accommodation situated on top of a sand dune with a spectacular 180 degree view over Zavora Bay. It consists of 7 double luxury en-suite rooms with a communal lounge over-looking the ocean. All rooms are equipped with bedding, mosquito nets and overhead fans. Bath towels are supplied in all the rooms. These units are serviced daily.

Saily and Marlin

Sailey and Marlin - 8 sleepers Beach Front Houses

Sailey and Marlin are situated next to each other and just a stone throw away from the ocean, situated on top of a sand dune with a stunning view of the ocean. Each house each consist of 4 bedrooms (2 single beds in each room), one bathroom, kitchen, open plan lounge and dining area with patio and braai area. Rooms are equipped with bedding, mosquito nets and overhead fans throughout the house. No towels are supplied. The units are serviced daily.

Manta Ray

Manta Ray - 10 sleeper Beach Front Houses

Manta-Ray is self-catering and just a stone throw away from the ocean situated on top of a sand dune with a stunning view of the ocean. It consists of 3 bedrooms (1 room with a double bed and 2 rooms with 2 single beds), 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining room area with a patio and braai area. A separate flat behind the house consists of 2 more en-suite bedrooms (2 single beds each). Rooms are equipped with bedding, mosquito nets and overhead fans throughout the house. No towels are supplied. The units are serviced daily.

Seagull Units

Seagull Houses are 4 Sleepers Sea Facing

Seagull Units are just a stone throw from the ocean located on top of the dune with a stunning view of the ocean. These units are 40 m from the dive centre and restaurant. Each unit consist of 2 bedrooms (1 with a double bed and one with two single beds), open plan kitchen, with patio and braai area.

Albatros Camp

Albatross Beach Front Camp

Albatross camp is just a stone throw away from the ocean situated on top of the sand dune with a stunning view of the ocean. It is a well-shaded camp site with clean and tidy ablutions (hot and cold showers). There is a baraca per site that have a light and a 5amp plug point. Sites range from a minimum of 2 people to maximum of 6 people. Ablutions are serviced daily.


Cowrie is a 6 Sleeper Unit

Cowrie is a 6 sleeper, self-catering unit, situated behind the sand dune, well-shaded and close to the swimming pool. It consists of 3 bedrooms (2 with 2 single beds each and 1 with a double bed), 1 bathroom, open plan kitchen and a braai area outside. Rooms are equipped with bedding and mosquito nets. No towels are supplied. The units are serviced daily.

Lula, Oyster and Mussel

Lula, Oyster and Mussel are 4 sleepers

Lula, Oyster and mussel are self-catering units and situated behind the sand dune close to the swimming pool. These three 4 sleeper units each consist of 2 bedrooms (2 single beds in each room), bathroom and open plan kitchen. Rooms are equipped with bedding, mosquito nets and overhead fans. Braai areas are located behind the units. No towels are supplied. The units are serviced daily.

Back Packers

The Backpackers house is self-catering and situated behind the sand dune. The unit consists of five bedrooms and with 2 single beds in each room, 1 bathroom and an open plan kitchen and a braai area outside. Rooms are equipped with bedding, mosquito nets and overhead fans. No towels are supplied. The house is serviced daily.

Heron and Kingfisher Camp

Heron and Kingfisher camping sites is situated behind the sand dune with lovely coconut trees and grass. Campsites are available with a baraca that comes equipped with a light and one 5amp plug point or no baraca but a plug-point. The 2 campsites have well-kept ablutions that are serviced daily.


Camp in style behind the dune in these 8m by 4m units with your own kitchen wash up, private toilet and shower (hot & cold water). The casitas are equipped with lights and a plug point. Beautiful Beaches

The spectacular beauty, peace and tranquility of our pristine beaches are enough to make you want to come back. Again and again and again... Miles and miles of sandy beaches just about to yourself, invites you take a walk or even a jog. Watch the awesome sun rises over the sea horizon or just relax in the shade of one of the thatch umbrellas on the beach.

Fishing Excursions

Fishing charters available on the boat "Magician". The seas around Zavora lodge are renowned for the outstanding fishing that is enjoyed by many all year round. The fish that frequent our shores are the king mackerel, queen mackerel, giant king fish, dorado, wahoo, yellow fin tuna, bonito, amberjack, sail fish, striped marlin and blue- and black marlin - to name but a few! The rock and surf fishing in and around Zavora is exceptional as the area is blessed with wonderful ledges, sandy beaches. We offer fishing charters on our one fully-equipped ski-boat, either with or without tackle, and with a qualified assistant, who is more than happy to give you a hand in realising your dream of landing the "Big One". Our Boat Skippers are all approved by the Department of Transport and have the local knowledge and passion to make your fishing dreams come true. We carry most of the modern fishing lures and tackle and our boats are fully equipped with different rods and tackle according to which species of fish we might target on a particular fishing trip. Gone are the days of you having to tow your boat. All you have to do is pack your equipment a head for Zavora as we charter out our ski boat to those who are in passion of a valid skipper's ticket. Your own boat at the sea just waiting for you. We have a policy of not fishing for reef fish and only targeting game fish species. In addition, we also promote the tag-and-release concept with all bill fish caught. Scuba Diving

Whether you are experiencing the underwater world for the first time or you are an experienced diver, our professional PADI & NAUI team of Instructors, dive masters and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable ensuring your diving at Zavora is safe, relaxing, rewarding and fun. As a PADI & NAUI resort, we offer all PADI & NAUI dive courses from beginner to dive master even Instructor. We are fortunate to have 12-20m deep Manta clearing stations approx five kilometers distance from the launching area. We have amazing encounters with both species of mantas - manta birostris and manta alfredo there. However, macro enthusiasts should have their cameras ready too for taking photos of up to 200 species of nudibranchs, crabs, moray eels, Crayfish, frog fish to name some. The deep reef system, that is around 9-11 kilometers off shore, consists of a large plateau ranging from 27 - 34 meters with sandy bottom and multiple unspoiled soft coral gardens and deep cleaning stations. Abundance of pelagic fish, large schools of yellow fin tuna, trevallies, barracudas, all kind or rays and sharks, and huge brindle bases are common to see here. And of course, lots of nudibranchs and Spanish dancers. Zavora has two wrecks - one lying in 53m for technical divers (the Klipfontein) and another, (Rio Sainas) in 32m for recreational divers. At Zavora Divers we offer both technical and recreational diving. On all dive one may see octopuses, mantis shrimps, scorpion fish, moray eels, crayfish (some of them really huge), and many turtles. We are lucky to regularly dive with loggerhead, green and hawksbill turtles. Time to time we see a huge endangered leatherback turtle. Divers should keep an eye also on sharks that are common in our waters. White tip reef shark, Zambezi shark, Hammerheads, Bow mouth guitar shark and Whale shark may be seen here. In addition to diving, we run Ocean Safari's. Our boats often encounter whale sharks, manta rays, turtles, dolphins, and from June to November we have the incredible Humpback whale Migration. We strive to continually improve the quality of our service and are firm believers in safety first. Come to dive the wild side!

Horse Riding

A fabulous horse riding experience is offered in conjunction with the nearby Macanza Beach Resort. The Horse Riding is offered for Beginners up to Advanced Riders and various other activities. Scenic Ride around Tsene lake 1,5 hour Beach Ride. We also offer rides to the stunning Lake Poelela where you can swim with your horse or 2,5 hour Combi Rides.


Restaurant & Pub

At Zavora its more than a holiday. Its about having a morvelous time and how can you have a good time without good company and even better food. Come and enjoy a scrumtuous T-Bone steak or seafood platter while watching the whales playing (in season) in the Zavora bay from our pub deck. Or have an intimate meal for two in our restaurant. Both serviced by our fully licensed bar.
