What to bring when travelling to Mozambique

Useful and important information when travelling to Mozambique

When Travelling to Mozambique, there are a few things that we recommend you take on your journey to Mozambique:

  • We recommend you bring a fuel canister (jerry cans) and fill it up for extra fuel in case of an emergency. Note: Some fuel stations (especially in remote locations) can run 'dry' during the busy holiday seasons therefore it is wise to full up your vehicle's tank where possible before continuing with your journey.
  • Spare tire(s) in case you get an unexpected puncture or blowout
  • Wheel Jack and Wheel Spanner
  • First Aid kit
  • Sun protection
  • Hat or peak to cover the sun
  • Bathing or Beach Towels
  • Toilet paper
  • Extra cash in hand in case you cannot draw or are not near an ATM
  • Bring meat from the country you're travelling from if you are planning to have a braai (barbeque) in the first few nights.
  • Cooler box to keep meat / cool drinks cool and fresh
  • Cell phone charger
  • Carry a map or use a TomTom (or any other device similar) to help you navigate
  • Washing powder
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Refuse Bags
  • Mosquito Coils, Tabard, and other Prophylactics to prevent mosquito & insect bites.
  • Lots of bottled water as some taps in Mozambique may be contaminated or not fresh (most supermarkets / shops / convenient stores in larger towns of Mozambique do sell bottled water).
  • Camera and binoculars to capture all those amazing moments in Mozambique :-)
